FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What services does your new Hand-E-Men division offer?
A:
Our Hand-E-Men can do a variety of small projects such as replacing outlets, switches, faucets, drywall and plaster patching, and painting.

Q: How long does a typical Hand-E-Men project take?
A: Hand-E-Men services are designed to help people take care of small jobs that contractors generally don't want to do. The best approach is to make a list that we can work on while we are there. This gives you the most value for the time spent. On average, 2-3 hours is plenty of time to take care of several small items.

Q: How long does a bathroom or kitchen remodel take?
A: Bathrooms typically take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, kitchens 3-4 weeks, windows and doors 1-3 days.

Q: What do I need to do to prepare before the workers arrive?
A: Empty cabinets and remove items from counter tops; make a clear path to the windows and remove window coverings.

Q: What time do the workers generally arrive, and leave for the day?
A: Typically, workers will arrive around 8:00 am and leave around 5:00 pm. There may be times they will arrive later due to gathering of materials, and leave later depending upon daily installation completion status.

Q: What kind of mess will I have to deal with?
A: Although construction work creates a certain amount of dust and debris, our workers are instructed to sweep clean and organize the job site before leaving every day making your experience during construction more pleasant.

Q: How long will I have to live without a bathroom?
A: It generally takes about three days to restore the bathing function. However, our workers are instructed to reinstall the toilet before leaving each day, unless the customer gives us permission to do otherwise.

Q: My spouse and I both work days so how do the workers gain entry?
A: There are several ways we can work with you so no one has to take off work. Some customers leave a key, others give us a garage door code or have a friend, relative or neighbor let us in. We can always lock the doors when we leave for the day. It's great to have a key or the code in case we have to run for supplies or go to lunch.

Q: How do you accept payment?
A: We take all major credit cards, personal check, cashier's check, or cash. Typically, we need a deposit on order, then balance on completion unless other arrangements are made.

Q: With all the choices for deck materials out there, how do I decide which is best for me?
A: Through a short question and answer session, we can determine which material will result in the best outcome for your particular needs. We take into consideration your budget, how the deck will be used, appearance preferences and maintenance requirements.

Q: How level does my yard need to be?
A: We will design a deck for just about any type of terrain. A deck built into a hillside can have a dramatic impact on your home's appeal.

Q: How much should I expect to pay for a deck?
A: There are many factors that go into the pricing of decks including design, size, material used, terrain, etc. We offer free estimates and computer-aided design with floor plans and perspective views so you can see exactly what your new deck will look like before you make the decision to order. We provide design services for kitchens and bathrooms as well.
